The ALEOSAN District Hospital was created under R.A. 4854 authored by the late Congressman Ramon C. Tabiana of the 3rd District of Iloilo, providing the amount of P100,000.00 as its appropriation and subsequently providing an additional amount for the construction of Hospital building in the amount of P220,000.00. The Hospital was formally organized on April 1, 1968 with the appointment of Dr. Arturo A. Ardeña as Chief of Hospital with a bed capacity of 25 beds operating at the Poblacion of Alimodian. On July 10, 1968, the operation of the Hospital was transferred at its present site at Barangay Bancal, Alimodian, Iloilo. Through the efforts of Congressman Gloria M. Tabiana, the Hospital was upgraded to a 50-bed Hospital as approved by the Secretary of the Department of Health on March 12, 1974.
The ALEOSAN District Hospital is located at the junction of the three towns of Alimodian, Leon and San Miguel. The Hospital is located in the donated lots comprising an area of 19,747 sq. meters through deed of donations by 8 donors. The hospital is about 2 ½ km. from the Poblacion of Alimodian, 3 km. from the Poblacion of San Miguel and 7 km. from the Poblacion of Leon.
The Hospital is located in the central portion of three municipalities and in the jurisdictional area of Alimodian, which is 19 km. from Iloilo City and is accessible to all land transportation.
The catchment area of the ALEOSAN District Hospital is composed of three towns of Alimodian, Leon, and San Miguel with an area of 30,633 hectares. Having 10,211 hectares or 33% of the whole area are step mountain ranges which are much favorable to bananas, coconuts and mangoes while the 20,422 hectares or 67% especially that of San Miguel are relatively lowlands suited for rice and corn and other lowland crops. Alimodian has 51 barangays with a population of 40,417, Leon has 85 barangays with a population of 49,494 and San Miguel has 34 barangays with a population for 27,482 or a total of 111,536 excluding the nearest barangays of the adjacent towns or even the San Remegio, Antique province is serviced by the ALEOSAN District Hospital.
ALEOSAN District Hospital is the only hospital of the 2nd District of Iloilo comprising the towns of Alimodian, Leon, San Miguel, Leganes, Pavia, Sta. Barbara, New Lucena and Zarraga.
Power is supplied by an Electric Cooperative (ILECO I) and a standby Generator of the Hospital. A telephone line (PLDT) with internet connection is available in the area. Potable water is supplied through electric water pump from the dug well outside of the Hospital donated lots.
The Iloilo Provincial Government completed the renovation and upgrading of OPD/Administration Bldg. and Ward Complex while the OR/DR Complex was completed through the Department of Health Funds. The construction of KOICA building- 2 storey for ER/DR Complex, X-ray room Complex and wards is already completed. The construction of Doctor’s Quarter Renovation/ Repair of Maintenance Room/Supply Room/Men’s Quarter and Nurse Dorm/MRF and Cadaver Holding Area are already completed.
